U.N. “concerned” about situation in Darfur
This is so much more than pathetic. From the UNHCR, no less. Do we have NO leadership, anywhere on the globe?

Is this for real? Expressing ‘concern’ is the strongest thing they feel about Darfur? Yikes. The world’s definitely come to something terrible when an international organization that specifically deals with those issues tiptoes delicately around glaring, blatant problems.
Quite real. To be fair, I think Kofi Annan is disgusted with this, preferring years ago direct action in this matter. However, with the oil/religion mix in Sudan, world bodies are steering well clear of any assistance. Israel, with its aversion to genocide, isn’t exactly stepping up the pressure. Nor is the U.S., which, after Rwanda pledged “never again”. Perhaps what we need is one billionaire to fund a crack group of mercenaries to take out the Sudanese President, al-Bashir. Of course, then there’s the question of what to do next…China is key on the nation’s strategic importance…the Muslims won’t stand for Western intervention yet refuse to put together a force to stop the slaughter. A conundrum, for certain. Whatever it is, it’s something to be more than “concerned” with.
