The Heat is On! Send a message to Hillary, McCain, Obama, etc.

A new effort to impress upon 2008 Presidential hopefuls the political importance of climate change (because the real-world, physical importance is not enough for any of the Dems or Repubs) is underway at The Heat is On.org I’m usually not inclined to believe in the power of the online petition, but there’s not a damned thing to lose by signing this one. So hop to it, por favor.

From the site:

The largest obstacle to bold action on global warming is strong presidential leadership. The Heat Is On will use the 2008 presidential primaries to generate a vigorous national debate on global warming and challenge all the candidates to make the issue a top priority.

The Heat Is On is a project of the League of Conservation Voters Education Fund. In partnership with LCV and the State Leagues in each of the early voting states–Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Nevada–we will undertake an extensive effort to educate and engage caucus goers and primary voters.

Nickel cadmium batteries couldn’t hold very much power by today’s standards, and could only be charged a limited number of times.

    Mr. McCain,

PLEASE select a Pro-Life vice-president. I discussed politics with one of my grown children the other evening, I asked him which candidate best reflects the stand of our founding fathers. Of course his answer was John McCain. We need to get back to faith basics. Do you think the founding fathers, who often and unabashedly referred to God, would choose a pro-life VP? I think the answer is obvious.

    Kate,

Thanks for dropping by. I have to remind you, however, that the founding fathers were paten atheists, by and large. The rest, agnostics. I urge you to read the writings of Thomas Jefferson, the man who penned our great document, the Constitution. Read HIS words, direct from the source and you will find you err in your thinking that the founders were religious men.
