JUSTICE (my son) 21 February 2007

My son, Justice Brilliant (shot with my trusty SX-70, for those of you in the know)
DOB 25.10.02
He who compels me toward all that I do.
To paraphrase Chief Seattle, “Modern man does not understand our ways. One portion of the land is the same to him as the next, for he is a stranger who comes in the night and takes from the land whatever he needs. The Earth is not his brother but his enemy, and when he has conquered it he moves on. He leaves his father’s graves, and his children’s birthright is forgotten.â€
The last part of this is critical. We very much do forget our children, as we borrow against their futures every day. I cannot abide by that and will do what I can to ensure that my son does not suffer for my ignorance. Selfish as it may be, everything I do , I do so that he can one day look to me and be proud.
I sit here with tears streaming down my cheeks; my vision blurred leaving me barely able to type. How quickly we can forget our legacy and why we are here. A Polaroid Land Camera brought me to your passion which has given me a renewed strength. Thank you Tod, thank you for having the courage to live like we all should live. Your words have given new meaning to my life. You’re a wonderful father and Justice is adorable!
Susan,
Wow! Absolutely the most uplifting comment I’ve received. However. . .however. . . there are so many, many people who are truly dedicating their every ounce to saving us. Modern day Rachel Carsons like Lester Brown, whose ‘Plan B 2.0′ is the source of inspiration for this site and for much of my activities. I strongly urge you find a copy. If you simply can’t do it, let me know and I’ll send you one. Really!
wow tod. besides being one of the most deep & profound thinkers on the planet, this site is a great way to meet chicks. good thing justice is your gravity or we would all be reading about your depravity!
xoxo

ps. sorry i suck so terribly in the contact dept. i’m taking a week off to unwind at the beach & then hopefully we can have a lucid conflab.
Tod, Justice looks so much like you!
Sorry Tod but Snopes says, “False.” The credit for the speech attributed to Chief Seattle really belongs to another, and it just happened to be penned more than 100 years after Seattle’s death.

However, don’t take it too badly. Even Al Gore fell for it.
Bobby!
No bubble burst, amigo. I know the story on the speech, but to attribute it to him is easier than to tell the whole story. My ‘paraphrase’ is more accurately a retelling of a retelling of a loose interpretation mixed liberally with political intentions.
