Former Roshambo Winery/Gallery cofounder, current Creative Director and celebrity activist, Tod Brilliant, like many, has given time and energy to a number of nonprofit organizations and projects. Until recently, this part-time participation was enough to assuage Brilliant’s pangs of guilt. The turning point for Brilliant came earlier this year, during a presentation given by Brian Steidle, a former U.S. Marine whose photos and stories of the suffering inflicted upon the people of Sudan’s Darfur region have opened the eyes of many, including world bodies, to the Sudanese genocide. WOW! you’ve motivated me to do some serious reading and soul
searching. i must admit that i have been guilty for a long time of only doing my part and what is convenient for me to “save the planet”. i realize that riding my scooter in town, sporting a pro-rail sticker on my car and brining my own grocery bag to the local health food store are NOT going to save our entire ecosystem from inevitable gloom, but they sure do make me feel better while discussing the local real estate over my organic greens and farm raised salmon dinner.
this type of complacency keeps us all up at night and it’s truly refreshing and inspiring to know that there is community of citizens out there commited to convincing the rest of us that convenient efforts don’t go far in this new fragile world that we ALL are responsible for.
