I am a South African citizen attending Monash University, I am wishing to open a website that will inform the world on Africa and global poverty. The saying "be thankful for you got" is my theme. I am looking for ways to make a donation site available please if there is any information about this topic will you email it to my address. Just a comment for Tod, it is inexcusable, however these seem to be murders. Complete destruction.
Regards Melissa.

We could go 'round and 'round on this, Bobby. The difference, to me, is that this is GENOCIDE, pure and simple. Further, stopping it now will certainly not only save lives in Darfur, but prevent the situation from swallowing a huge chunk of the African continent. We need no other motivation than human suffering for the UN to get involved. The UN is chartered in part to prevent such things from taking place. The inaction is inexcusable. Believe me, if/when this type of thing happens within our borders, we'll be screaming to the world for help.

Please don’t take offense Tod (or anyone else out there), but isn’t the conflict in Darfur (etc.) a genocidal cleansing by Islamic fundamentalists? Are not the dead non-Muslim martyrs of other faiths? Growing the sustainable energy market and working to end poverty are commendable ideas, but this type of bloodshed will continue as long as such killing can be justified as god’s work. And with the amount of political heat the United States has endured toppling the Taliban and Sadaam, is it really in our best interests to invade Africa? It confuses me when the anti-war left protests one conflict, but encourages another. Other than human suffering, what would be the United States’ motivation for fighting in Darfur?

And yes, you are very correct in saying that we need to give thanks for what we have in the United States. However, it must be realized that such benefits are derived from our most basic belief that Liberty is endowed to man by the Creator.
