About Me/Contact 1 November 2006

Aside from doing my damndest to help rather than harm, I enjoy gorilla suits in coffee shops, yukio mishima -- especially the lovely sad tetralogy, paul bowles if only for his dowdy mannerisms, buckaroo banzai of course as it represents the pinnacle along with the burmese harp of filmic art, the sea when it scares me which is when it exists crashing and deep in front of me, most of all julio cortazar's hopscotch, yes, even more than nick cave’s work of genius and even more than bulgakov’s madness, my son justice brilliant as the two of us are twin planets orbiting, my friends and family few but proud , my work as it is fluid, creative and never demanding of me more than I demand of it (not to talk in circles but only to tell a truth), root beer, yes more of a vice, some of the better situationist outpourings like raoul v's and the great overdubbed films (but dear god not debord who couldn't cope with having held empty ideas in a world full of men more sound), but I'll trade them for the genius of Bucky Fuller and Nikola Tesla and the righteous path of Eugene Debs, Sly (sigh) Stone aka Sylvester Stewart not only because he coined the phrase 'different strokes for different folks' which is such a thick concept if you spend time with it, design and art that thrills me which is very little but enough to clutter my home -- you know the concept of the 'thrill' is rarely mentioned so I will mention it now -- when was the last time you were truly thrilled by a work of art, not impressed, not blown away by technical merits, but thrilled like a child seeing her first hot air balloon? That's what I'm talking about and that's what I like.
CAREER:
From record stores, pizza joints, “adult” retail, brutal landscaping gigs and a particularly nasty donut shop to founding an industry-shaking winery/art gallery, and working as a marketing consultant, producer, writer and creative director, I’ve had a rather varied, extremely entertaining career to date.
Further, I’m actively engaged in helping people with great resources (connections, time, money, passion) effectively distribute a portion of these resources to people and projects in need of aid. I rail against “blind” philanthropy, however, and work to fully-educate and engage my partners/clients.
Ultimately, what matters most is that I am absolutely and passionately committed to the only cause worth dedicating my life to: that of helping those visionaries who have the education, experience, and insight to guide all of us to a sustainable model of living. I am a small part of a network of like-minded individuals and organizations who will revolutionize human existence via education, personal choices, market forces and legislation.
Oh, I’m also a bit of a photographer. Efforts can be seen at JUNETEN.com. Half-completed pieces of short fiction are at POLA-FICTION.com. Click ‘em both if you’re curious.

hi tod. . . . thought i’d spend some time investigating your websites to see what you’r up to. . .
you are the only person i know who runs faster than the road-runner while walking at the same time. . . . the inside of your head is a geode, just like your dad’s. . . .
dedicating your life to sustainable living is, in my opinion, the only chance we humans have to
strive for, or else it’s just one big hasta la vista . . . . some of my heros are eugene debs (my
grandfather was a socialist and a follower of debs and took his young family and settled into
the famous llano del rio colony out on the edge of the mohave desert. . . debs and job
harriman were behind it all. . . . it is said by many that debs was the sweetest, gentlest and
most compassionate of men. . . . . i’m glad he is one of your hero’s. . . he should be every
one’s hero. . . . . another hero, kirkpatrick sale. . . . then b fuller, felix greene (”the enemy”),
pablo nurada, anna akmatova, bill mckibben, bary lopez in particular, diego rivera, annie lenox,
your dad who i miss like crazy, you, because you both have the same inflated but wonderfully, forgivable egos, george carlin, joana macy when she’s not being pious, mozart, zen, annie leibowitz, earthlight magazine, the new york review of books, rodin, gingko trees, spring frezias and their enchanting fragrance, the aroma of newborn babies, the photography of sebastiao what-ever-his-last-name-is . . . love what you are up to. . . . and now back to pouring over this website. . . .
enough heros for now. . . . oh. . and sweet, sleezy new orleans jazz
just like your dad, you are just one huge piece of work

many thanks todd, a pleasure to meet you, albeit virtually. 50Rooms is kick ass!
The McCain campaign has (Jim/James?) Woolsey, former head of the CIA, working on it’s energy policy. I just watched a discussion where representatives of the three major candidates for president discussed the programs the candidates were supporting or proposing to initiate and I was struck by the depth of knowledge of all the representatives. Woolsey was particularly interesting because my assumption would be that he would be particularly conservative but I, in fact, found that he is extremely effective at communicating the conclusions a former CIA analyst might make when the major focus of his investigations is energy. I found he was also particularly adept at relating envirionmental energy policy to national security concerns, somewhat to my dismay (I’m not supporting McCain for president). Anyway, I thought I might suggest you take a look at this guy and his positions because it is likely he is going to be instrumental to the formulation of the Republican response to the Energy/Environment debate.

These posts don’t show you as an idealist they show your youth and inexpereince of life, showing that you can’t think out of the box and can only see one side to a story.
BEFORE we had Electric bikes, bikes, cars… Do you know what we had?
They are called horses, donkies, and mules.
And before that people did *not* travel miles upon miles in one day to go to work and back.
Average walk takes 15 minutes per mile. That is saying 1 hour for 4 miles, Now imagining carrying cargo on your walk.
And as far as bikes without electricity and athletics…
Let me tell you something. I was a scholarship athlete in track and field
Do you know what I got for doing athletics since 3rd grade?
Bad knees and joints. By the time I am in my 50s my doctor says I will need full knee replacement surgery on *both* knees. Diagnosed with arthirits when I was 28 years old and get to painfully watch myself deteroriate (now 38) until I am in my 50s.
To put it in another way, to save the environment are you Peeing and Pooping outside whenever possible so you are not wasting our good water? I doubt it…
So, get off your high horse and be practical about stuff, research the past, look at the current and see what *honestly* and *practically* can be done in the future. With all types of considerations.
I sure wouldn’t want to live in a future that you have created with such small mindness that seems to abound.

Horses and mules are going to be come back into vogue, you wait and see. I reckon you should buy a mirror so you don’t trip while you walk with your back to the future. Heh. Kidding. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. I’m certainly not one to say I can predict much of anything and your ideas, while I feel could stand some nuance, are appreciated.
How about this? Pick up “Plan B 3.0″ at your local bookstore. Read it. If you absolutely disagree with the contents, I will refund your money. Really. Do we have a deal?
