Like you say, Jennie; we now have a population increase. Since slave labor was deemed illegal here in the states during the 1800s, and that energy was replaced by oil (I'm still trying to find a fantastic paper on this written by Sidney Wilhelm), we'll just have to go back to slavery again. Mass starvation and death is a more likely scenario than some wonderful sustainable alternative. This issue has been keeping me up at night for years. We are totally unprepared for what will hit us. The oil crisis will be deadlier than global warming. Our worldwide population increase was petroleum-fueled. What sustainable alternatives? They don't exist yet. Go visit Madagascar or another shithole if you want to see what life looks like without oil. It is NOT pretty. For energy, they cut down ancient trees and burn them, causing massive erosion, environmental devastation and climate change. The fields are very poor & not productive. People die from every sort of treatable disease without transport. Power outages even in airports and hospitals. That's what life without oil will look like..</p> Um, I do not think we should party.
